Mysterious Indri in the Madagascar forest I'll admit, this isn't the greatest photo, but consider it a teaser. From our lodge in Andasibe we'd have a nice view on the edge of the Andasibe national park, home of the Indri Indri, the largest lemur species. This is our very first sight of them, and this one is from quite far away. Andasibe,Indri,Indri indri,Madagascar Click/tap to enlarge Species introCountry intro

  1. How did we spot them from so far away? We simply heard them:

The indri, also called the babakoto, is one of the largest living lemurs. It is a diurnal tree-dweller related to the sifakas and, like all lemuroids, it is native to Madagascar.
