  9. Beautiful picture I agree - but it almost certainly is a Gemsbok (found throughout Namibia, especially in the Namib desert) and not an East African Oryx. Posted 8 years ago

  11. Namibia is on the West coast, definitely not in the range of the East African Oryx.

The gemsbok or gemsbuck is a large antelope in the ''Oryx'' genus. It is native to the arid regions of southern Africa, but formerly some authorities included the East African Oryx as a subspecies. Its current population in South Africa is 373,000.
