Inia geoffrensis humboldtiana  Pink River Dolphin or Boto Pink river dolphin in the Orinoco Delta.  I did get a little better at spotting them, very difficult to take as large area of water, additionally they tended to be more active with flat water, making focusing tricky.  More to follow. Pink river dolphin in the Orinoco Delta. I did get a little better at spotting them, very difficult to take as large area of water, additionally they tended to be more active with flat water, making focusing tricky. More to follow.

  1. Note: have identified it as Inia geoffrensis, as Inia geoffrensis humboldtiana is disputed as a subspecies. Still good to have that name in the title and tags so that people can find it. Posted 5 years ago

The Amazon river dolphin, also known as the boto, bufeo or pink river dolphin, is a species of toothed whale classified in the family Iniidae. Three subspecies are currently recognized: ''I. g. geoffrensis'', ''I. g. boliviensis'' and ''I. g. humboldtiana'' . The three subspecies are distributed in the Amazon basin, the upper Madeira River in Bolivia, and the Orinoco basin, respectively.

The Amazon river dolphin is the largest species of river dolphin, with adult males reaching 185 kilograms.. more
