Crocodylus intermedius The Orinoco Crocodile at Hato El Cedral.  This is a critically endangered reptile - individuals in the wild estimated to have a population of between 250 & 1,500 - This is a very large specimen (over 4 metres) - nowadays any above 4 metres are considered to be whoppers (largest ever recorded from approx 1800 said to be 6.78 metres).  They are largely fish eaters.  Found only in the Colombian & Venezuelan Llanos.  Decimated for their skins. The Orinoco crocodile is a critically endangered crocodile. Its population is very small and it can only be found in freshwater environments in Colombia and Venezuela, in particular the Orinoco river and its tributaries. Extensively hunted for their skins in the 19th and 20th centuries, this species is one of the most critically endangered species of crocodiles.
