Prickly plant - closeup, Palmarium, Madagascar I have no idea yet what type of plant this is. It grows quite tall, perhaps 1.5-2m.<br />

  1. Beautiful! Have you checked out the Alluaudia genus? Posted 5 years ago
    1. That looks like a bulls-eye, thank you so much!

Trying to bring it down to the species level yet all 6 known species natively grow in the South and South West, so this one is cultivated and in the East. Can't make it on distribution. I'll bring in Ori, see what he thinks.

      1. Yah, I couldn't decide on any one species either. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Posted 5 years ago
      2. I'm not seeing anything listed under the Eastern distribution for the 6 known species? Is this area not well-explored? A. procera seems to be easily cultivated (even in areas of North America), and this is visually pretty close to that species (depending on the photo). What do you think? Posted 5 years ago
        1. That's what I said in the remark you replied to, none in the East, and this one is in the East because it is cultivated :)

Still, A. procera seems promising to me, will use it as a tentative ID, thanks!

          1. Derp. Sorry. Been under the weather this week (just back from the doctor), so my head is elsewhere right now. Posted 5 years ago
            1. No worries, that's pretty much my permanent condition, I understand :) Posted 5 years ago
