  1. Very pretty!
I'm not a huge fan of these as a meat substitute though. :/ Also a huge pain to process if you buy them fresh (full of a gluey substance).

    1. Having Jackfruit and Dragonfruit explained seems inevitable when visiting tropical countries, we've heard the same essay dozens of times now :) Don't recall either fruit to be tasty, good to know it's not a great meat substitute. Although of course spices fix a lot. Posted 5 years ago
      1. A lot of vegans claim it is great, but I think it is just MEH. I've tried it multiple different ways, and I'm just not impressed (plus it is pricey). It doesn't have much caloric content, so it isn't very satisfying either. Tastes very watery and plain on its own.

I rather like dragonfruit in smoothies.

        1. I wonder if you ever had these:

          Ice-cream-beans, Inírida, Colombia Here's the whole fruit I described earlier:<br />

As said, you can just pick these, open them, and eat the pulp inside without cleaning. It helps with hunger as well as thirst. Don't mind the burned tree, this was at a farm. Colombia,Guainía,Ice-cream-bean,Inga edulis,Inírida,South America,World

Most awesome fruit we ever encountered in the wild, ready to eat, tasty, zero processing. Not really a meal though, more like a snack.

The jackfruit is a species of tree in the ''Artocarpus'' genus of the mulberry family. It is native to parts of South and Southeast Asia, and is believed to have originated in the southwestern rain forests of India, in present-day Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Maharashtra. The jackfruit tree is well suited to tropical lowlands, and its fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit, reaching as much as 80 pounds in weight, 36 inches in length, and 20 inches in diameter.
