NEMATOCYST
A nematocyst is a structure found in members of the phylum Cnidaria, such as jellyfish, corals, and sea anemones. They are produced in explosive cells called cnidocytes. When stimulated, nematocyst is everted with its purpose being to sting! Creatures, such as the button polyp (Zoanthus sociatus) rely on nematocysts for self-defense and to capture prey. {Spotted in Israel by EAmer} #Zoanthussociatus #Nematocyst #Cnidocyte
