Female common brown lemur - sitting, Andasibe, Madagascar Our last activity in the Andasibe area was to visit Lemur Island, as it was directly situated across our lodge. This concerns an artificial island separated from the main land by means of a canal, which you cross using a canoe.<br /> <br /> It is very much a zoo-like experience where you can get very close to a small set of lemur species. They are so accustomed to people that they will jump on your head and backpack. <br /> <br /> Not a very authentic experience, but I was happy to learn that they made some sustainable changes compared to our visit years earlier.
