Found in Choco and Risaralda departments of Colombia on roadside banks in paramo at elevations of 1600 to 2500 meters as a large to giant sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a monopodial, ovoid in cross section stem carrying 5 to 15, distichous, elliptic, coriaceous, acute and asymmetric apically, conduplicate-carinate below into the base leaves that blooms in the later spring, late summer and fall on many, fascicled, axillary, erect, to 6.8" [17 cm] long, simultaneously 1 to 4 flowered.. more
