Canada Mayflower - Maianthemum canadense
Canada Mayflower is a common, low-growing wildflower that produces white flowers in late spring. It has 1-3 shiny green leaves. The berries start out mottled red, but then turn deep red by mid-late summer.
Habitat: Wet, deciduous forest
"Maianthemum canadense" is a dominant understory perennial flowering plant, native to the sub-boreal conifer forests in Canada and the northern United States, from Yukon and British Columbia east to Newfoundland and south to Nebraska and Pennsylvania, and also in the Appalachian Mountains to northern Georgia.
