Lined Day Gecko - closeup 1, Mitsinjo reserve, Andasibe, Madagascar
In the relatively cold dry season, in the dense dark forest of the Mitsinjo reserve, we found day geckos warming up in scarce places of sun light. We found this particular scene multiple times across the forest.
''Phelsuma lineata'', the lined day gecko, is a species of diurnal gecko native to Madagascar. It has also been introduced to Réunion.
This species as described appears to be a conglomeration of many distinct forms; three of these are currently recognized subspecies , but others could be separate taxa that should be elevated to species status as was ''Phelsuma dorsivittata''.
