    1. It was a nice little spot to hang out for a while. I'd bet if I'd been there in the early morning it would have been really hopping. The whole area used to be a fort, then a psychiatric hospital (part of it still is - across the street from the park area) until the 1960's. The puddle was on a foundation of a torn down building - nice wide and shallow - perfect for a bird bath. Lots of little birdies (mostly Juncos) were coming down to have a little dip.
