Fuscopannaria leucostictoides? If it is Fuscopannaria leucostictoides, Petaled Shingle Lichen or Frosted Crackers Lichen I will be happy! While cleaning up the yard and burning branches that had blown off of the many fir trees this one caught my attention. My reference book for lichens, “Macrolichens of the Pacific Northwest” 2nd Edition, seemed to point to this cyanolichen. The only other that seemed to be close was F. pacifica but it is found in a slightly different habitat and does not have apothecia with thalline margins. To give some indication of scale the branch is about 2.5cm in diameter. Canada,Fall,Fuscopannaria leucostictoides,Geotagged Click/tap to enlarge PromotedSpecies introCountry intro

  1. Looks like a well reasoned species ID, Gary! Posted 5 years ago
    1. Thanks, Ferdy. It’s nice to have a subject that one can pick up rather than get down on hands and knees to photograph! Posted 5 years ago
