"Papilio memnon", the great Mormon, is a large butterfly native to southern Asia that belongs to the swallowtail family. It is widely distributed and has thirteen subspecies. The female is polymorphic and with mimetic forms.

I was advised that the above picture is not Great Mormon, Papilio Memnon. The correct ID according to someone from "Papilionidae of the World" is The Common Clubtail Swallowtail Butterfly, Losaria coon coon, (Papilionidae) - male. This is Losaria coon from peninsular Thailand, the top is female and bottom male, you can also tell the difference by the shape of the wings as in females those are more rounded than in males. Posted 5 years ago
