Friendly Dolphin There are around 15 resident Common Bottlenose Dolphin in the general area of Rangiroa we were diving. They are one of the friendliest I have come across, but specifically to the Dive guide we were diving with.<br />

On one dive, we were just hanging out in the water column, waiting, waiting and waiting for around 10 minutes, and then 3 Dolphins showed up and played with our Dive guide. They also allow us to play with them. But most of the time, they prefers to get the attention of our Dive guide. On another dive, only one Dolphin showed up and stayed with us for more than 30 minutes, mean time, more and more divers showed up, there were more than 50 divers around us at one time. But each time the Dolphin goes up to the surface for air, she will swim back directly to our Dive guide. There were times she will pass by many divers coming down from the surface, but does not stop or hover to play with the other divers and will continue to seek out our Dive guide. It was simply magical how this particular Dolphin has this connection with our guide. The common bottlenose dolphin, or Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, is the most well-known species from the family Delphinidae. Common bottlenose dolphins are the most familiar dolphins due to the wide exposure they receive in captivity in marine parks and dolphinaria, and in movies and television programs. The common bottlenose dolphin is the largest species of the beaked dolphins.
