  1. It's so great that you're still getting moths! Posted 4 months ago
    1. I've been checking every night. Sometimes it is too cold but yesterday the daytime high got to 62 and evening lows were in the 40s. There were 7 species plus 2 caddisflies. Posted 4 months ago
      1. Amazing! Posted 4 months ago
        1. At least seven moth species last night. Going to try again tonight although we are in for a cool down. Are you still mothing at night? Posted 4 months ago
          1. I wish I was still mothing! I continued late into the season last year. But, this year, I stopped early because I was getting the same moths each night, I have been too tired to stay up late since school started, and because we got sprayed with broad spectrum insecticides because there was a mosquito/EEE problem. We're supposed to have a couple warmish nights this weekend though, so maybe I'll try again :). Posted 4 months ago
            1. We're getting some light snow right now so that will slow things down for a while. Fortunately, the snow is melting as it falls. I think I may have another new moth but I've got to go over my photos.

I heard about EEE in CT. Sometimes there are minor outbreaks of that here, too. How are the ticks where you live? I haven't seen any here since late July.

              1. Whoa - snow! We have had at least 2 frosts, but no snow yet. Ticks have not been bad at all in the past month or so. My son got Lyme last month, but other than that we have seen very few ticks. It has been more dry than usual here though. Posted 4 months ago
                1. The snow isn't sticking but in western MN it sounds like they will get close to a foot. We get spotty frosts some nights but so far no heavy killing frost which for here is very unusual.

The last tick I saw was the one I got Lyme disease from. Never had it before. Did your son have the typical symptoms? I didn't but about 2 weeks after being bitten I had a high fever.

                  1. We haven't had a heavy frost yet either, but I don't think that's unusual for us. My son didn't have any symptoms, except for the bull's eye rash. He had the typical rash, he got tested, took antibiotics, and now seems fine. Hopefully there will not be any long-term or delayed issues for him - or for you. I've never had it, but know many people who have. Posted 4 months ago
                    1. I went on antibiotics (two week course) the day the fever appeared. I guess I'm fine now as I've had no new symptoms. Posted 4 months ago
                      1. Good, I hope you're completely healed! Posted 4 months ago
