Parsons chameleon - male, Pyreras Reserve, Madagascar
A very beautiful, very large male individual of the heaviest chameleon species in the world. This species is large enough to consider small mammals, birds and other reptiles as part of its diet. It will probably not spent a lot of time considering anything, instead catapult its tongue at anything moving.
There's multiple variants of this species, this one is aptly called "orange eye".
The Parson's chameleon is a very large species of chameleon that is endemic to isolated pockets of humid primary forest in eastern and northern Madagascar. It is listed on CITES Appendix II, meaning that trade in this species is regulated. As with the majority of chameleon species from Madagascar, it is illegal to import Parson's chameleons from their native country.
