Size does not matter I could use your help identifying this small chameleon. It is captured in Pyreras Reserve, Mandraka, Madagascar at September 2012. The guide's thumb gives a good indication of its size. Calumma globifer,Globe-horned chameleon,Madagascar,Pyreras Reserve Click/tap to enlarge

  1. Brookesia minima? Posted 12 years ago
    1. Thanks for helping out. When checking photos of Brookesia minima, I'm not sure. Their heads look not as round as this specie? Posted 12 years ago
  2. Possibly a female Calumma brevicorne? Posted 12 years ago
    1. Thanks for helping out. Hmmm, I'm in doubt. Do female Calumma brevicorne (Short-horned chameleon) not have horns? I read they vary greatly in size, but nothing yet on horn which this one seems to lack. tough one! Posted 12 years ago
  3. Female brevicornes do not have the nostral appendage but I think you are right and this is not one. It was the ear flaps that made me think of this one. With so many different species..this is quite a challenge! Posted 12 years ago
    1. If they don't have the nostral appendage, you could very well be right Claire! Posted 12 years ago
  4. Looks like a young Calumma globifer to me. (Definitely not a Brookesia.) Posted 9 years ago
