The monarch butterfly or simply monarch is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Other common names depending on region include milkweed, common tiger, wanderer, and black veined brown. It may be the most familiar North American butterfly, and is considered an iconic pollinator species.

Thanks for sharing your first photos, they are wonderful! I want to give some guidance on what makes a complete post:
1. Title and description. CHECK, you've done this correctly.
2. Species. If you know, you're asked to identify the species using the species identification dialog. I've now done this for you but you can try to do it yourself on next post. If you do not know the exact species, you can leave it empty.
3. Location. Set either the country in which the photo was taken (see "set country" button) or set the exact location using the "Geotag photo" button. Either way is fine, but please consider location as important information.
