Barberry Geometer - Coryphista meadii, form badiaria

Sorry for the blurry photo, but I wanted to get this form of this species on JD, but couldn't quite reach it.

Adults of this species have two forms: A dark form, and the "badiaria" form, which has orangish-brown AM and ST bands.

Thank you for documenting this. There's a well known butterfly (which is so well known that I forgot the name) which has a different morph based on season. Is that the case here as well? Posted 5 years ago

  Good question...I'm not sure of the answer, but don't think the variation for this species is related to the seasons, especially since they have several generations per year. But, it's possible.
