Red-bellied Lemur - feeding 2, Ranomafana, Madagascar

We found this Red-bellied Lemur on our morning hike as it was making a lot of noise straight above us in the canopy. They are loud and sloppy eaters. Taking loud cracks at the nuts and constantly dropping the leftovers. In one of the shots you can see such a drop.

  Hah! As a mother perhaps you've tried to teach your kids to chew with their mouths closed. This is as far opposite of that as possible. They tilt their head back, open their jaws as wide as they can, and then chew like a maniac. Posted 5 years ago

The Red-bellied lemur

The red-bellied lemur (Eulemur rubriventer) is a medium sized strepsirrhine primate with a luxuriant chestnut brown coat. This lemur is endemic to eastern Madagascan rainforests and is distinguished by patches of white skin below the eyes, giving rise to a "teardrop" effect, particularly conspicuous in the male.
