A young water frog (Lankanectes pera) in the shallows

This species was only described in 2018, and apparently nobody has gotten around to inventing a common English name for it yet.

  Probably something like "Knuckles Range Water Frog" or "Knuckles Water Frog" to be analogous to some of the other species endemic to the Knuckles mountain range. But I'll wait for someone with some actual authority to invent a name. Posted 5 years ago

      I did find one frog in Sri Lanka that my guide didn't recognize, and thought might be an undescribed species. He said maybe it would be named after me, but he said "Pseudophilautus johni", which seems extremely unlikely as a name. (Also, it might just be a particularly colorful individual of a well-known species.) Posted 5 years ago
