Hypomyces lateritius (Underside)

Hypomyces lateritius is a parasite on the gills of Lactarius species mushrooms. It looks like tan/whitish bumps embedded in the sheet-like tissue covering the gills.

Habitat: Growing on the ground in a deciduous forest

  Thanks! I'm bummed about the blur though! It was so humid and there were so many tiny flies that I was actually inhaling them, closing them in my flash, etc. Ughhhh. I actually had to comb them out of my hair when I got home. So, I have a lot of rushed shots from this hike. Posted 5 years ago
