Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos) An old, gigantic honeylocust tree in a moist forested area near a lake re-regulation reservoir. I only had my macro lens with me, so I didn't get in-situ shots!
Check out the gigantic seed pods!
1. Awesome! That is gigantic!! Posted 5 years ago
    1. They were. It was one of the most gorgeous old trees I have seen in person. I wish I would have had my other camera/lens with me. Luckily, it is right down the road (so I can return easily). We have tons of Honey Locust saplings on our land, so it makes me want to encourage their growth in some locations! Posted 5 years ago
      1. So cool! We have black locust and have collected the pods for the kids to make musical instruments. I have never seen honey locust in person, but I just read some can be found as far north as MA. Posted 5 years ago

The Honey locust, ''Gleditsia triacanthos'', also known as the thorny locust, is a deciduous tree native to central North America. It is mostly found in the moist soil of river valleys ranging from southeastern South Dakota to New Orleans and central Texas, and as far east as eastern Massachusetts.
