  Yes, sadly this applies to pretty much any species in Madagascar. Only 3% of the original forests are left and they are rapidly disappearing still. Conservationists speak of a "last chance" era in the coming 10 years.
  
  I call it "no chance". Here's why:
  - 90% of Madagascar lives on < 2$ a day and needs fuel wood every single day
  - Rural population is growing, fast
  - Slash and burn agriculture still widespread
  - Wrong president re-elected
  
  The forests don't stand a chance. I expect 3% to soon become 1%, that last 1% protected by the military. Posted 6 years ago
