Reticulate Bright-eyed Frog - back, Ranomafana, Madagascar We found this well camouflaged frog hiding in a dry leaf. Seemingly not as a coincidence because a little later we found a second individual in the same hiding situation. Two experts so far have ID-ed it as Boophis reticulatus, or a very similar looking undescribed species, of which there are several in Madagascar. So consider this a tenattive ID.
To give you an idea of the amphibian endemism of Madagascar: out of the 300+ species described, a whopping 2 are not endemic. There's several hundreds of species still to be described.
