Common myna, Ranomafana, Madagascar
Opening the set for the 2nd location of our trip: Ranomafana. The day started with a huge déjà vu. We were here 7 years earlier, in the same hotel, same room, with the same giant Traveller palm in front of us.
The Common myna is originally an Asian bird, that has migrated to Madagascar and made a permanent stay. It can be found all over Madagascar and is known as a very dominant bird. It actively chases away other birds.
The common myna, sometimes spelled mynah, also sometimes known as "Indian myna", is a member of the family Sturnidae native to Asia. An omnivorous open woodland bird with a strong territorial instinct, the myna has adapted extremely well to urban environments.
