Jelly Baby - Leotia lubrica
Often called "jelly babies", these small mushrooms have a very gelatinous/rubbery texture. The semi-translucent yellow caps were smooth and convoluted. Stems were yellow. This one was SO SLIMY! I had trouble holding it to get a photo because it kept slipping out of my grip.
Habitat: Growing on the ground in a deciduous forest
''Leotia lubrica'', commonly referred to as a jelly baby, is a species of fungus in the family Leotiaceae. The species produces small fruit bodies up to 6 centimetres in height, featuring a "head" and a stalk.
