Downy Rattlesnake Plantain - Goodyera pubescens Green variegated leaves. it was approximately 12-13 cm in size. Some say that, when in bloom, the flower spike resembles a pine cone.<br />

**Note: I am so bummed that I didn&#039;t notice those tiny, brownish cup fungi (right side of photo, on twig)!!<br />

        1. Lol, and I do remember nearly the exact spot that I found these plants, at least I remember the general area where I was "lost" at the time...So, I suppose I'll have to retrace my steps on my next hike there. Posted 6 years ago

"Goodyera pubescens", the downy rattlesnake plantain, is one of the most common orchids native to eastern North America. It is found from Florida to Nova Scotia, west to eastern Oklahoma, Minnesota and Ontario.
