
Red-footed Cannibal Fly (Promachus rufipes)
Observation from a couple of years ago!
Description:
Large (around 35mm), predatory robberfly with yellow and black striped abdomen. Reddish brown banding on legs. Yellow bristles on head.
Habitat:
Meadowy clearing at the edge of dense mixed hardwood forest.
Notes:
According to BugGuide: "Preys on large flying insects. Has been reported to attack Ruby-throated Hummingbirds"
