Kirindy Forest Scenery - Faza tree, Madagascar
Locals call this tree the Faza tree. Faza means whitey, white man, pale person. It refers to the peeling of skin when pale folks stay in the sun for too long.
Some scenery from Kirindy Forest, Madagascar. Kirindy is part of the tropical dry forest region of Madagascar:

It is a private reserve, owned by a Swiss company who combines sustainable selective logging practises with conservation. Kirindy is a hotspot for researchers, above all to study its unique mammal wildlife. Our guide told us the BBC film crew also attends every single year.
Supposedly, all of Kirindy turns green from December to March, during the rain season. Bringing out many reptiles and amphibians. Yet it also means the roads are so bad that you cannot even get there, and they regularly close the reserve for visitors then.

Oh, and look at those awesome fern-like leaves in the upper right of the photo?! And, it looks like there are multiple eggs sacs or cocoons on the bark of the tree! Really neat. Posted 6 years ago
