"Xanthosoma sagittifolium" is a species of tropical flowering plant in the genus "Xanthosoma", which produces an edible, starchy corm. Cultivars with purple stems or leaves are also variously called blue taro, purple taro, purplestem tannia, and purple elephant's ear among others.
