It is found in Senegal, the Gambia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, Djibouti, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Algeria, Egypt and the eastern Mediterranean, including Greece. The habitat consists of savanna, including arid savanna.
