  1. I am not convinced that this is amata huebneri, it is too different. Unfortunately I cannot offer an alternative identification. Personally I have 8 species of amata, including this one, that are potentially different species but have failed to identify.

I hope someone can confirm one way or another as I would like to put mine to rest in the correct folders in my collection.

By the way, loving your images. Massive contribution to Indonesian bug life :)

    1. Good catch, Vodkaman. I agree that it doesn't look like the said species. The genus Eressa may also be a good place to look? Posted 6 years ago, modified 6 years ago
      1. Thanks Lisa.

There is definitely a common feature on all eressa, the wing tip windows are all large:small:large:large. This is not matching this or any of my unknowns which I have now posted:

        1. What about Ceryx sp.? Posted 6 years ago
          1. On all of my type 1 (same as posted image), the body patterns are distinctive triangular bands on all 19 specimens, as are the wing window patterns.

It does not fit the other types either. I think we need to get a mothologist down here :)

            1. Hmm. Maybe they hybridize. We definitely need a mothologist! Posted 6 years ago
              1. Sugian and I are about 180Km apart. For an identical markings I think there is more to it. If you like, I could put both images on one frame for comparison. I would like for Sugian to have a say, his opinions. Posted 6 years ago
                1. Great idea! Posted 6 years ago
  2. I think Sugian has solved the problem. Cerix claremonti, see link ref 5.

The wing venation is perfect, also other markings, but it does not show the triangular bands. I think this is as good as it is going to get.
