  1. Have you compared this one to Gonepteryx cleopatra? They are very similar, but G. rhamni is pointy at the forewing apex and at the hindwing point. Also, the male cleopatra is pale greenish on the underside and has orange patches on the upperside (which may be a bit visible here). They are very similar species and seem difficult to distinguish.     1. I do believe you're much more experienced than I in terms of identification for this butterfly, I'm more than happy to go with which ever one you think it is. It would be nice if they had species badges on them so I could stand half a chance! Posted 6 years ago

''Gonepteryx rhamni'' is a butterfly of the family Pieridae. It lives throughout the Palearctic zone and is commonly found across Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Across much of its range, it is the only species of its genus, and is therefore simply known locally as the brimstone.
