  1. Fantastic macro detail and a lovely, dynamic image. I don't recall seeing any specimens when visiting PA. Or perhaps if not in flower, not being educated as to leaf shape etc. Posted 6 years ago
    1. Thanks! This one is on my property. We had a couple of visitors who suggested we soak the berries in water to make "Rhus juice," which is lovely in gin.

      To be honest, I'm not certain I'd recognize it without the "horns" either.

"Rhus typhina", the staghorn sumac, is a species of flowering plant in the family Anacardiaceae, native to eastern North America. It is primarily found in southeastern Canada, the northeastern and midwestern United States and the Appalachian Mountains, but is widely cultivated as an ornamental throughout the temperate world.
