    Such intriguing forms...brings back the memory of seeing clusters of these for the first time, quite a shock. Scientific brain reassuring that it was indeed fungi, medically trained brain saying 'nope, that's definitely decay on a buried body' ha ha. The ones I saw were utterly convincing. Posted 3 years ago

The Dead Man's Fingers

"Xylaria polymorpha", commonly known as dead man's fingers, is a saprobic fungus. It is a common inhabitant of forest and woodland areas, usually growing from the bases of rotting or injured tree stumps and decaying wood.
