A Northwestern Alligator Lizard, Elgaria coerulea ssp. principis. We have lived on Cortes Island for a little over 30 years and have only heard about these lizards. Walking back from the dock I was surprised to find one sunning itself in the middle of the driveway! It stayed long enough for me to get the camera. I was also surprised at how fast it skittered away after I got too close. 1. Thanks Lisa. Yes, these lizards are secretive but still... 30 years! What a treat to see one in our yard. Posted 6 years ago
