    wonderful! this plant is part of the Monotropoideae subfamily in the Ericaceae family, and the interesting fact about this subfamily is that all the plants in it are myco-parasites - this means that they are parasites on fungi, and not on roots of plants.
    I have a picture of another member of the same subfamily - Sarcodes sanguinea:

      That is interesting. It resembles the Vancouver Groundcone (Boschniakia hookeri) which collects its nutrients directly from the host plant’s roots. In this case Salal.

      Another plant close to me that is in the Heath family and gets its nutrients from fungi is the Nome Plant
      Gnome Plant This specimen was right beside the road and close to eye level. The pink colour stood out from the dark background. A lucky find! Canada,Geotagged,Gnome plant,Hemitomes congestum,Summer
