Ephemeral stream in an old growth Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) forest This is an ephemeral stream that flows from a small wetland about 100 meters away on top of a massive bedrock ridge that is largely forested with sugar maple. Water flow is reduced to a trickle or more often nothing in between rains. At this point in the stream, it is beginning to flow over a cliff that drops about 50 meters.
