Native to Australia. Found across the eastern states of Australia and Tasmania. Herbaceous strappy perennial plant growing to a metre high, with dark green blade-like leaves to 70 cm long. It has sprays of small blue/purple flowers in spring and summer, followed by edible bright blue/purple berries.
