Virginia Creeper Sphinx - Darapsa myron
TL: ~ 35 mm. FW light brown to pale green with a thin orange border and wide bands of darker shading. Dull orange HW. Hosts: Virginia creeper, grapes, and viburnum.
Habitat: Attracted to a 395 nm LED light in a semi-rural area
The Virginia creeper sphinx is a moth of the Sphingidae family. It lives from Maine south to south Florida; west to North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas. It also can be found in Mexico.
The caterpillars are known to feed on virginia creeper and grape.
