  1. I think Ocypus olens is a western species, no? There are a lot of rove beetle species and they are difficult to differentiate, so maybe consider leaving this one at Staphylinidae? Maybe someone on BG could help if you post it there? Posted 6 years ago
    1. It is an introduced Eurasian species I thought? It seems you are right on the more western distribution at this point. Hmmm Posted 6 years ago
      1. It does look like it though. But, the supposed distribution is wayyy west. Posted 6 years ago
        1. Weird. Still no response from BG. I may post it to facebook if I don't get any help in a day or so. Posted 6 years ago
          1. They have seemed slow lately. Maybe bc it's summmer? Posted 6 years ago

      1. Oh! I don't know how I missed that, Mark! Thank you! Posted 6 years ago
        1. Not to be a naysayer, but I wonder if those IDs are verified? I don't know how iN works, so are those eastern ID's accurate or just guesses? Posted 6 years ago
          1. That is the reason I'm leaving it at Staphylinidae at the moment. I haven't had the time to check the if the IDers are reputable. Posted 6 years ago
          2. IN is more accurate than any other site I know of but you need to focus on the research grade IDs (approved by more than one high-rated other).
It's uncomfortable to use but after the (steep?) initial learning curve the power of it is revealed.

            1. Cool! I don't know much about it, but know that it's popular. I did join awhile back, but never posted there because I was confused by the layout...I guess the learning curve is indeed "steep" for me ;P
