Bald-Faced Hornet Nest (Dolichovespula maculata ) Jason noticed this medium sized nest hanging above the road on our way out of a hike location. I didn't want to get out of the car to take photos (there were active wasps going in and out), so I had to settle for a shot from my car window! 1. Haha! I really wanted to, but Jason was insistent on me staying in the car. I had an epi-pen with me, but we didn't want to risk it. Posted 6 years ago
      1. Gooood decision! We don't need you getting assaulted by any more hymenopterans. Posted 6 years ago
        1. I know. I think I've become more sensitive. I got stung by a tiny bee (squooshed it in the nook of my elbow last week when taking a photo), and it was pretty bad. Just a tiny sting, and it swelled up for several hours and itched for 2 days! I was even taking benadryl! Posted 6 years ago

            1. P.S. I freaked out SO MUCH on the long trail after this as there were yellowjackets EVERYWHERE. Posted 6 years ago
