Bald-Faced Hornet Nest (Dolichovespula maculata )

Jason noticed this medium sized nest hanging above the road on our way out of a hike location. I didn't want to get out of the car to take photos (there were active wasps going in and out), so I had to settle for a shot from my car window!

      I know. I think I've become more sensitive. I got stung by a tiny bee (squooshed it in the nook of my elbow last week when taking a photo), and it was pretty bad. Just a tiny sting, and it swelled up for several hours and itched for 2 days! I was even taking benadryl! Posted 6 years ago

The Bald-faced hornet
