The Silver-spotted Tiger Moth, Lophocampa argentata, is restricted to areas of the Pacific North West in the United States, in addition to British Columbia, Canada. It’s a temperature sensitive species and can’t tolerate cold winter climates. It thrives in coniferous forests, where the larvae feast mainly upon Sitka spruce Picea sitchensis) and Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). When conditions are right, epidemic population explosions can occur. {Spotted in British Colombia, Canada by JungleDragon user, Gary Fast} #JungleDragon
