Moth Week 2019 This is an early reminder that National Moth Week 2019 will be July 20-28! This is a worldwide event where everyone is encouraged to get outside to observe and photograph moths! We will be compiling a list of all moths shared on JungleDragon&rsquo;s website during Moth Week, so please share your photos at <a href="https://www.jungledragon.com/" rel="nofollow">https://www.jungledragon.com/</a> .<br />
<br />
The National Moth Week website has ideas on how to attract moths, such as turning on an outside lights and lamps, putting up a sheet that&rsquo;s illuminated by a light, smearing ferment on trees, etc.(<a href="http://nationalmothweek.org/finding-moths-2/" rel="nofollow">http://nationalmothweek.org/finding-moths-2/</a> )<br />

If anyone has any questions, please comment below! We will be posting another reminder as we get closer to moth week, but in the meantime, mark your calendars and get your lights ready to shine! #JungleDragon Geotagged,Spring,United States,moth,moth week,moth week 2019 Click/tap to enlarge Promoted

      1. Can't wait what the community will come up with! Just read there's 180,000 lepidoptera described, so we're almost at 1.5% here. Just to indicate the size of the opportunity :)

        And of course not to forget that photos of moths already on the platform are equally welcome.

        1. Ha! 1.5%! Well, this afternoon at about 7:35 I added a new moth, Dejongia lobidactylus, while talking a walk through a field so I've moved the number up a tiny bit.

          Dejongia lobidactylus In an old field with Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), pasture grasses, goldenrods, willows, and small aspen, oak, and pine trees. 1. So far for Moth Week 2019 I've added 17 new species to my checklist plus 45 returns. I think I've got most of the new ones posted to JD. Posted 6 years ago
              1. That's an excellent score, thanks so much for participating! Posted 6 years ago
              2. Fantastic tally for one week! I haven't counted mine yet, but am curious. Posted 6 years ago
