
Rockweed - Fucus distichus subsp. edentatus
Small fronds that do not contain air bladders. The receptacles are long and flat.
The brown color comes from the xanthophyll, fucoxanthin, which masks the colors of the other pigments, beta-carotene, and chlorophyll.
Habitat: Washed up on a beach during low tide
