Smoke Bush - Cotinus coggygria
This bush had stunning reddish purple leaves. Unfortunately, it's another non-native that I spotted in Maine. Odd, because Maine is such an environmentally conscious place, and yet I think I saw more non-native plants than native ones.
"Cotinus coggygria", syn. "Rhus cotinus" is a species of flowering plant in the family Anacardiaceae, native to a large area from southern Europe, east across central Asia and the Himalayas to northern China.
