House Wren - Troglodytes aedon
This wren sat on top of the nesting box for quite awhile. Every few seconds, she would lean forward and peak in the hole. It seemed like she was trying to decide if she could get away with eating the juicy insect without her kids noticing, so she didn't have to share it. As a mother, I am familiar with this tactic.
Habitat: Nesting box in a meadow

The house wren is a very small songbird of the wren family, Troglodytidae. It occurs from Canada to southernmost South America, and is thus the most widely distributed bird in the Americas. It occurs in most suburban areas in its range and it is the single most common wren.
