Polysiphonia lanosa

The reddish brown "hairy" tufts are a type of red algae, Polysiphonia lanosa. They grow on Ascophyllum nodosum in an exclusive relationship. Each tuft uses rhizoids to attach to the fronds of Ascophyllum nodosum.
